I like all genres of music especially Sugam Sangeet and Ghazals as it has feelings, expressions and depth with beautiful words that reaches the heart of the listeners. My aim is to strive to do my best to connect with our listeners and to be able to communicate with warmth and humour. It is a woman’s prerogative to change her mind so when I am asked if I have a favourite actor or food, I say I don’t as this changes all the time. (Ha…ha.) “I am an elected councilor in a ward in Leicester City. From an early age I was inclined to engage people of the community in events and activities. My natural flare for organizing and arranging helped me put on vibrant religious events such as Navratri in our community for years. I stepped into politics and strived to continue to serve people, keep them active and let them feel heard. This is about the beginning of Geeta’s Coffee Morning. This is my endeavor to get people from my ward together for themed coffee mornings, an opportunity for people to celebrate festivals, make friends, find joy and share laughter. We have become one big family in my ward. I host a similar social for the ladies of my community called Merani Milan. This lets ladies of all walks of life from the community come together and socialize. In a world where many people are becoming disengaged and lonely, my aim is to promote everyone to find time for socializing, continue to participate in cultural activities and form friendships to help their mental health and wellbeing.”
